This complete overhaul to a 70’s residence overcomes a number of problems created by a wide plan with very little existing natural light to the centre of the house.  The insertion of a dramatic staircase to access the new first floor with a soaring roof structure creates a light filled generously proportioned gallery space to display the owner’s exotic art collection in lieu of the previous rabbit warren of internal corridors.  The house is more clearly zoned to provide private areas for parents, children and guests to enjoy.  Living areas have been extended to increase light, space and the interaction with the garden.  An entry arbour gives the house a more elegant and welcoming street presence.
