A new mixed-use development for the RSL in Ormond Road, Elwood. The development comprises a ground floor club with a prominent sunny outdoor dining area at the street corner, combined with two levels of apartments above. Both club and apartments are serviced by a basement car park with separate lift cores.
A dynamic building form is created with the combination of a strong presence at the Ormond Road corner and a setback element which connects the development to the lower scaled residential side street of Pine Avenue. The apartments are predominantly two storey “cross over” types which enable street views for all apartments, direct access to natural light from both ends and facilitation of natural through ventilation. Two storey balconies to some of the apartments create large outdoor rooms, resulting in spectacular and vibrant entertainment areas.
Bower Architecture was initially engaged to prepare a feasibility study for the project and has now progressed through concept design to the completion of the town planning stage.
