Surf Coast Farmhouse

Victoria, Australia

A unique farmhouse for prospect and refuge, on the Surf Coast, Victoria Australia.

This rural coastal retreat is designed to nurture our semi-retired clients on their olive farm just inland from the coast of the Southern Ocean. It is shaped around an existing ancient eucalypt and is embedded in the land with massive stone walls offering protection from the wild south westerly winds and a feeling that it may have emerged from an ancient ruin. The architecture responds directly to the environment, topography and features of the landscape while creating a treasure trove for our creative clients’ life and passions.

This project was uniquely designed at the early concept stage in collaboration with our long term friend, retired architect Bob Sinclair LFRAIA, a friend of the owner.
