Sally and Simon had admired Bower’s beach house projects and came to us to design them a home for their retirement in Point Lonsdale, where they could enjoy each other’s company and welcome their family, friends and new grand daughter.
From the early stages Bower understood what we were looking for in terms of our desired lifestyle and future needs in our retirement home at Pt Lonsdale, capturing our thoughts and ideas and creating a fabulous design.

Sally and Simon wanted the house to be empathetic to its environment with views towards the sunset and the golf club. Their house would have a balance between privacy, to close the curtains at night, and open to the neighbourhood during the day. Seamless Indoor/outdoor living with a courtyard to entertain their guests, is something they are looking forward to at their new home.
The design response is unique in its arrangement of the living and dining at the street and views to the gold club and Lake Victoria. It can be a social and inviting area, reflecting their welcoming personalities, with a sunset drinks terrace to this westerly orientation. Once a set of screens come down the zone can become private and focused towards their private north facing deck and garden. All of Sally and Simon’s spaces are at ground floor for ease of access as they gracefully age in place, while the first floor features guest rooms.
The design is modern, minimalist, light and airy with a calm contemporary beachside feel. It is designed to be comfortable, warm and very casual. The interior design is bright, light and beach fresh with highlights of jewel like Point Lonsdale sea side colours. A warm timber cabinetry spine runs the length of the house linking, unifying, and creating warmth and texture.
